We first check all your tapes to make sure they are not mouldy or damaged. If they are damaged, we will let you know if we can fix the tapes before we convert them. Your tapes will run its length through an anologue to digital converter. This ensures that the audio and video are in sync. This converter has a filter to help maintain the quality of your original recording, in terms of the colour, brightness, contrast and sound. We use this process for all our conversions. After this process, we then convert the digital file into a DVD format that is playable on your DVD player. We recommend up to 2 hours of footage onto a single DVD. You can add more footage but you will notice a drop in the quality. For example the video will start to look pixelated. This is the process we use for all our video conversions as we do not wish to compromise on quality. We also use A grade quality DVDs (Taiyo Yuden) to transfer all your videos.
The process of converting a video tape takes time. If your tape is 2 hours, it will have to be played through for the whole 2 hours to create a digital file in AVI format. The digital file must then be compressed onto a DVD so that you can view it on TV. This process can take an hour or more depending on the speed of the computer.
