Creating a School Yearbook for your Children

What do you do with all your children’s yearly school photos?

This year my son completes year six and moves to high school next year. I am creating a school yearbook for him to remember his memories from school.

A huge year for us all.

And I started taking photos and video of his achievements since prep to mark his growth during his schooldays right through to year six.

Because we love our children and cherish their growing years.

I am proud to see my son grow and I want to celebrate his life in this special milestone of his journey.

There are many ways I recorded photos and videos during his school years.

  • Events held in school
  • School Concerts
  • Excursions
  • Awards
  • Yearly school photos
  • First day of school year
  • Last day of school year

In order to prepare this special story for your children, you must begin to take photos early in the year.

I include challenges experienced as well as successes in these memories because they show growth of character.

These memories showed endurance and build confidence and self esteem in my sons’ life.

Once you have all these photos and videos what do you do with them?

Where do you begin with your School Yearbook of photos and videos

Start sorting and organising your photos and videos through the school year.

Next you need to delete photos that are blur and duplications. Choose photos that tell a story as well as show action. The same goes with choosing your videos. You want the ones that show part of their story you wish to tell.

Creating a School Yearbook of Photos

Remember there are no fixed ways to do this collations. You can create a yearly book separately or as what I am doing is combining Prep to Year Six.

I do this because I like a big fleshy book with written descriptions. The photos I choose will include all activities with friends in school, excursion and yearly camps.

Creating a Video Montage

I love video montages because you get to see live action from your child from a toddler grew into their school years. After all the chosen videos are compiled into a folder, arranged into the order you wish to view them, you are ready to create your video.

From here you will need to decide if you are going to get a professional to create your video montage or you may wish to do it yourself.

The World Stage

Once our children step out into the real world, much of their life will change. But these memories will never change and they will show evidence of how extraordinary life can be.

So why not celebrate life.
