Family Stories are Treasures to Explore Your History

Do you record your family stories in photos and videos?

Have you inherited those old photo albums from your parents?

These priceless treasures are your family stories showing how you came into existence. Within them, you may find hidden treasures and meaningful connections within your family.

You often take time to record your priceless moments, don’t keep them hidden. Out of sight, out of mind.

But really, if you look at these memories, they contain visions of your growth.

This year my son completes year six. And he is also training to receive his black belt in taekwondo. I have recorded photos and videos of many activities and even as he trained for his black belt. These moments mean a lot to me and by recording them, I am passing on my energy of excitement to him for completing it.

But what does it really mean?

For me, I want to show him how proud I am of his determination and discipline to complete his endeavours. And I celebrate his achievement.

Organising all these photos and videos is the best way for me to tell the story of his growth.

What do I do with these captured moments?

I am creating a Photobooks and a video slideshow to give him so that he may look back on his younger life and see the growth of his potential. All children love to see their photos. Even though many of these photos shows him pulling a face. That is fine because it is him. I’m sure it will bring much laughter for him as an adult. And for me as a mother, I can remember how precious those years were for me.

When you begin to organise your family stories, those photo and video memories, you will see a pattern which can be used to create a story board.

Every day, you, as a parent are writing your family stories or your children’s stories. Captured and recorded moments to keep and remember. Don’t just keep them in your devices, instead bring them back to life.

These memories show growth through the years. And who wouldn’t want to remember good memories. It is said that memories strengthen our bonds and help grow confidence in our children to face the world.

The first step to creating these keepsake, is to gather all your photos into one spot. This will help you to declutter photos that are blur, duplicates and make no sense. Removing these unwanted photos will give you a head start to organising the one you wish to keep.

Sometimes keeping old photos can make you feel overwhelmed. They contain too many priceless memories. So make time to explore your family history to remove any unwanted photos.
