How do you Keep your Kids School Photos

Some of the best stories can be seen in

You would not believe how many photos of my kids I keep. If you have kids, I trust that you are exactly like me and have heaps of photos, including school ones too.

I am very faithful in recording their growing years. I believe it is very important for them to be see photos but also video clips of their younger days.

Now, take a moment to look at the photos you took. What did it say to you, when you took it? Was it a memory for you or did you take it to remember a moment or an action?

Example

  • I take photos and videos of my son when he achieves a medal in Taekwondo or is assessed for a new belt;
  • Photos of him using his first place medal for Chess;
  • Random videos that show how happy and creative he is when drawing or playing piano.

These memories tell a story of which they will not remember untill you specifically tell them or show them photos and videos.

We may not realize it but these photos or videos, will one day mean a lot to your son or daughter.

What do you do with these photos?

For now, you back them up on DVDs, external hard drives, usb sticks or even online storage system, to keep them safe. Below are some free software you can use for online sharing, photo organising and editing, burning and many more.

At some point in time, in the near future, memories become priceless reminders for your kids.

3 Brilliant Ways to Use Kids School Photos and Videos to transform into a Story of their Life

  1. Show their growth in a Video Slideshow presentation from Kindy to Graduation – a great presentation to reflect on their achievements;
  2. A year in review video slideshow showing their achievements in school as well as sports or other outside school activities;
  3. Create a 21st Photo Montage Video Slideshow presentation.

The aim is to celebrate achievements and encourage them to see a sense of adventure and fun through life.

I was recently applying for my 7 year old son to enter college, in a couple of years and was presented with a list of questions to answer about him.

  • Social Character and Activities;
  • Musical Interests;
  • Sports Interests;
  • Favourite School Activity;
  • His pride in achievements.

Wow! This is a mouthful to swallow. All of a sudden, I realized that my baby has grown into this wonderful young man whom I have been guiding all these years since birth. We have such a short time with our kids. I was immediately spurred me to look at all his school photos and videos. To my amazement, I recognised all his achievements in that 7 years and am pleased to have such a happy kid. We have always encouraged him to do activities that nurture our values and also check in with him to make sure he is not tired or need some emotional support to tackle life’s little activities for him.

As parents, it is our responsibility to guide, nurture and love them unconditionally. Recording their achievement is a great way to show them their full potential.

My photos and videos show growth from kindy right through to where my son is in his life now. I will surely continue to keep all his photos and videos because I feel it will be great to show him his achievements when he completes his Graduation, whether that be in Year 12 or from Uni, these photos and videos shows the story of his young life.
