Never Ever … Give Up

5 Year Old – First Training Session

Last weekend, my son had his Taekwondo Grading Competition. But this story is not about him, it is about a little girl who was competing in a grading after my son.

She was in competition with another girl. She received a pretty hard blow in her chest, missed her step and fell hard and flat on her back. As I witnessed this very unfortunate incident, I also saw her tears well up and she began to cry. I knew she either felt physical pain or worse she was humiliated. Everyone went silent and was in shock.

In my heart, I had hoped her parents would encourage her but there was no sound from the audience. I felt for her and started to tear up myself so I clapped and said “You can do this. You know you can.” I saw her lip curl as she wiped her eyes and picked herself up. By the time she got up everyone was clapping.

Although she did not win the match, she walked away a winner because she didn’t give up.

Life is never easy and I am sure for many of us, hitting the dark bottom of the ocean feels like there is no way out. I have been there and stayed there for many years in my teens.

Please don’t ever give up. We all have this amazing powerful strength within us, find it and use it. There is always a way out as long as we don’t give up.

This little girl was about to give up and I knew that if she accepted defeat without completing the match, it would have affected her in ways that would hinder her confidence.

I am so glad she held her ground and picked herself up. If she could do it, so can you.

Most of us feel trapped inside because of our fears but if we can understand that if we can feel our fears then we can also find the strength to pull through and come out strong. Its all in our mind and we hold the key to change our thoughts.

Remember as hard as life can be, there is always a way out of our challenges.

Don’t ever give up!
