Finding Your Connection to Life

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.” From the movie Ferris Beuller’s Day Off

This is one of my favourite quotes because it reminds me to stop every once in awhile, break away from my daily routines to relax. And find my connection to life!

We all live busy lives with our family, children, school, work and taking them to extra activities. Then we start it all over again. Why are we constantly busy occupying our time by filling it  with activities, one after another? To plan a play date for my son means I have to choose days when his friends have no activities.

We seem to be so busy that we have lost our human connection with one another. It feels like we have lost our sense of value with everyone around us. When do we ever take time to appreciate what nature offer us in our own backyard or just spend time to be present and play with our children or connect with our family and friends? When do we appreciate our existence in life?

precious moments

About two years ago, I stopped scheduling extra activities for my children because I saw the stress in my family and it became overwhelming for all of us to bear. We were constantly rushing and it made us tired and anxious. Things have changes as we have become more focus and aware of our surroundings and are fully connected.

Its All About the Connection

I take time to play handball and basketball with my son. While my daughter chases geckos and collects rocks in our garden. The energies from these activities bring us joy and makes us laugh and have fun. Alone time for me, is lying in bed with my son talking about the day’s activities. Being with my daughter reading or maybe even dancing.

It is not a day planned with activities that fill our time but a day of connecting and being present in our life. How precious is that?

Today, please take some time to play with your children or share a quiet moment with your partner or friend. Don’t let the world take over your life, you take control, live life and enjoy it with your family and friends.

Why is this so important? We began our life with our family; how we bring up our children and teach them values from young, is so important because it creates our future generation. We all partake in this journey of life and what we teach our children can make a difference.

Communicate as much as you can and connect to one another because if you don’t you lose your human touch.
