Our Weekend at the Beach

11855635_1636291766626039_103068750730805171_nLast weekend, to break the monotony of our regular routine, our family spent the day at Pandanus Beach in Wynnum.

We wanted some quiet time alone to embrace some rest and relax moments. The children love it as it was for them pure adventure and fun. 11892161_1636291806626035_2653920146990966861_nMy daughter collected shells and my son was happy just making sand castles and running to the edge of the jetty and throwing sand into the water. Why? I asked him and he said “I love the see the sand disappear into the water.”  I on the other hand took some really great photos and just enjoyed being present in that moment while watching the sheer joy on the faces of these little people who mean the world to me.

Although we were altogether, each of us did our own individual activities while still maintaining our connection.

This is a beautiful photo I took of the ray of sunshine on the rippling water, it caught my attention from the light moving all around the water.

My husband and I walked across this beautiful jetty and it was so beautiful to feel that where ever you are in the world, water always gives you a calming effect.

Why Time Alone is essential for Growth

“Solitude matters, and for some people, it’s the air they breathe.” Susan Cain

In our family, we are all quiet natured and we love our individual activities. But the beauty in this is, our connection to each other is always maintained while we work on our own activity. I hope this stays even as my children grow older. This is why I feel it is important to instill the importance of some quiet time for my children.

  1. You exercise you ability to explore the natural world around you to influence your perception of life;
  2. You ignite your sense of curiosity to become adventurous;
  3. You allow yourself to be free of restriction within society;
  4. You discover your limitlessness;
  5. You embrace the energy that nature gives and feel a sense of renewal.

What is your favourtive activity alone or with your family? I would love to hear from you. In the meantime, have a lovely quiet day!
