Tips and Ideas to help you create a Funeral Slideshow

One of the most challenging Slideshows to create is for a Funeral or Tribute to Celebrate Life. Most of us are not prepared when a loved one dies. During this difficult time of loss, there are no words to express how we feel about letting go of a precious life whom we love so dearly.

This is the time when we think of our memories and how precious they become to us. Our photos and videos show precious moments and we need to keep them close to us.

Creating a Funeral Slideshow or Tribute to Celebrate a special life is a great way to help us deal with this loss and it can also be played at their Funeral or just as a keepsake.

Choosing and Organising your Photos or Videos

You do not need to include all your photos, just those that are special. If you are telling the story of the person from birth, then have a photo from birth through till teenage years.

The bulk of your photos goes to your main story. Begin from how this person has had a big influence in your life. Show your relationship to this person example.. mother, grandmother etc…

Let your photos show your joys together until the last moments in the persons’ life.

The 3 things you need to remember when creating your funeral slideshow or tribute is:

  1. What message do you want the show to have;
  2. Do you want to add a personal message or just choose a meaningful song;
  3. How long do you want the video to run for.

Equipment at Venue

Always try to play your DVD or USB at your venue before any event. Some players may not take certain media or your video format might not be compatible. Do make sure you are able to play your DVD or USB at your venue to avoid last minute hiccups.

The list below is just some popular songs in no particular order that I’ve used from creating various funeral slideshows. They are very meaningful song choices liked by many.

  • The Dance – Garth Brook;
  • Angel – Sarah McLachlan;
  • What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong;
  • Looking Forward Looking Back – Slim Dusty;
  • My Way – Frank Sinatra;
  • Stairway to Heaven – Led Zeppelin;
  • My Heart will go on – Celine Dion;
  • Because you Love Me – Celine Dion.
