Using Video to help Raise Funds

Have you thought of creating a video as a strategy to help raise funds for your cause or for charity?

Why video, you may ask?

You have the opportunity to tell your story of why funds are being raised.

People love to know the story of what the funds are being raised for and more importantly, why should they donate.

It is the story that will touch hearts and give an emotional feeling of compassion and that would  motivate people to give.

I was a part of a fund raising project in aid of the Mater Foundation last year.

I created a video called Maya’s Story. This truly amazing and inspiring family, lost their 2nd daughter, 24 days after she was born, to Congenital Heart Disease.

A truly heartbreaking experience to live through. Yet through their grieve, they choose to thank the incredible Mater Foundation for all the efforts during their time in hospital, by raising funds.

Their target was to raise $3,000 but after the release of the video Maya’s Story, they raised over $10,000 in 3 months. Wow! What an achievement.

The people that watched the video were touched by the story and viewers reached more than 2,000 in a just a few days.

This is the video of Maya’s Story.

5 Things to Consider to give your Fund Raising Video The Wow Factor

  1. The Story of what or why you are raising funds;
  2. The message of hope, you give to others in a similar situation;
  3. Your actual photos or video clips, choosen will create your story;
  4. Your song choice must move with your photos and story;
  5. Your honesty and openness in sharing to help others.

The result from this fund raising effort was the family, through their loss, gave hope to many others in a similar situation.

In helping others, they received overwhelming messages of support that touched them.
